Vietnam's VNeID app adds new digital documents in 2.2.9 update

The Vietnam Electronic Identification (VNeID) application, created by the National Data Center for Population under the Ministry of Public Security, received its version 2.2.9 update on 2 July. The upgrade expands the range of official papers that can be stored digitally, now showing the criminal‑record certificate within the document wallet, revising the administrative‑procedure questionnaire used by the People's Police, and introducing a function that lets users cancel a pending domestic passport application.

The update is part of the government's push to build a “super‑app” for digital citizen services and to advance the national digital‑government agenda. Users can install the new version from Google Play for Android devices or the App Store for iOS devices.
