Vietnam's VNeID app set for airport online check‑in, police issue guidance

The Immigration Management Office of Quảng Ninh province, together with local police, released detailed instructions for passengers to perform online check‑in using the VNeID digital identity application. The guidance outlines an eight‑step procedure: logging into a Level‑2 VNeID account, selecting the “airline services” option, choosing the carrier, confirming personal data, completing face‑recognition eKYC, entering booking details, selecting seats, and receiving an electronic boarding pass.

Authorities stress that the service requires a Level‑2 VNeID profile, that travelers keep airline apps installed, and that they still carry original IDs (citizen ID or passport) in case of technical issues. The initiative is presented as a major step in the digital transformation of Vietnam’s aviation sector, aiming to simplify procedures, improve passenger experience, and enhance state management of airport security.
