Vietnam‑Thailand marks 50 years of diplomatic ties with academic workshop
An academic seminar titled “Towards the 50th anniversary of Vietnam‑Thailand diplomatic relations: Connecting people and cultural exchange” was held with participation from Vietnam’s ambassador to Thailand, Pham Viet Hung, and academics and students from leading Thai universities including Chulalongkorn, Kasetsart, Chiang Mai, Thammasat, Srinakharinwirot and Khon Kaen.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Hung reviewed milestones since relations were established in 1976 and the upgrade to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2025, emphasizing historic ties, cultural similarities and people‑to‑people exchanges as foundations for future cooperation. He called for expanded professor and student exchanges, joint research and stronger university partnerships, and highlighted the need to preserve shared heritage sites such as Ho Chi Minh memorials in Thailand.
