VietNuc experts convene in Paris to advance Vietnam nuclear energy program
The Network of Overseas Vietnamese Experts in Nuclear Energy (VietNuc) recently hosted a seminar at the École Polytechnique in Paris to discuss the development of Vietnam’s nuclear energy program. The event, held both in person and virtually, brought together national, French, and international experts to address the current status and opportunities within the sector.
Key topics included human resource requirements, trends in small modular reactors (SMRs), nuclear safety experiences, and methods for extending the lifespan of nuclear power plants. Experts emphasized that successful implementation requires comprehensive preparation in legislation, management capacity, safety, and international cooperation.
Representatives noted that VietNuc is focusing on five main areas: organizing specialized seminars, policy advisory, knowledge dissemination, supporting human resource training, and strengthening links between experts and national or international organizations. The network is also developing a “Nuclear Energy Q&A Manual” to provide accessible scientific information to the public.
