Vietsovpetro reports 500 million m³ gas discovery in Vietnam offshore Block 04‑3

The Vietnam‑Russia joint venture Vietsovpetro announced that its exploratory well TU‑14X in offshore Block 04‑3 (Mang Cau field) successfully flowed gas and condensate. Drilling was carried out from 22 May to 3 August 2026 on a 4 792 m well using the self‑elevating Tam Đảo 02 rig. At 00:05 on 5 August 2026 the well was opened with a 19.05 mm choke, delivering about 530 000 m³ of gas and 95.5 m³ of condensate per day.

Preliminary estimates suggest the find will add roughly 500 million m³ of gas reserves to Block 04‑3, supporting higher commercial production rates and improving the economic efficiency of the project. The program was approved by Petrovietnam on 31 July 2024 and involves Petrovietnam, Russian partner Zarubezhneft and Vietsovpetro as operator. The development is expected to create additional jobs for oil‑service companies in the Petrovietnam ecosystem.
