Italy: Two 17-year-olds arrested for attempted murder in Calabria

In Bagnara Calabra, two 17-year-olds have been arrested for attempted murder following a violent confrontation on July 3. Investigators report the incident began after the victim allegedly “looked at them the wrong way,” leading to a brawl. The suspects later tracked the victim to a vending machine, where one attacked him with a knife and the other shot him in the head near the ear. The suspects are currently held at the Juvenile Detention Center in Catanzaro.

In a separate incident in Vigevano, a 24-year-old man from El Salvador was found dead in his apartment. The victim had recently been the target of a homophobic attack on August 21, during which he was insulted and pushed into the Naviglio Sforzesco canal. While authorities are investigating various possibilities, including natural causes or a fight, the connection to the previous hate crime remains a focus of the inquiry.
