The Ferrovia Vigezzina-Centovalli is set to relaunch its seasonal ‘Treno del Foliage’ service, running from October 10 to November 15, 2026. The 52-kilometer railway route connects Domodossola in Italy to Locarno in Switzerland, traversing the Vigezzo Valley and the Centovalli.

The journey takes approximately two hours and offers views of changing autumnal landscapes, including chestnut groves, beech forests, and deep gorges. The route has gained international recognition from outlets such as CNN and The New York Times for its scenic beauty.

Key stops along the route include Santa Maria Maggiore, which hosts the ‘Fuori di Zucca’ event in mid-October, and the village of Intragna. Passengers can board from either terminus, and special round-trip tickets allow for one intermediate stop during the journey.
