Vigia de Nazaré celebrates 329th edition of historic religious procession

The 329th edition of the Círio de Vigia de Nazaré took place in northeastern Pará, drawing thousands of devotees for the procession. Considered the oldest Marian manifestation in the state, the tradition dates back to 1697, predating the Círio of Belém by nearly a century.

The festivities included a mass at the São Sebastião Community followed by a procession featuring the image of Our Lady of Nazaré on a ‘berlinda’. Participants, including pilgrims and visitors, traveled through the historic center toward the Madre de Deus Sanctuary. Local authorities had estimated an attendance of approximately 100,000 people for the event.
