Vigo advances urban redevelopment of bus station and Plaza de España

The city of Vigo is advancing several urban redevelopment projects. The Xunta de Galicia has formalized the free transfer of the land occupied by the former Vigo bus station to the Vigo City Council. This move follows the site's designation as green space and roadways in the new Municipal General Plan (PXOM).

Mayor Abel Caballero has indicated plans for the former station area to include a large children's park, sports facilities such as small football and basketball courts, and various green spaces and rest areas.

Additionally, the Vigo City Council is launching a design competition for the comprehensive reform of Plaza de España. The project covers more than 43,000 square meters. The competition aims to establish a unified technical proposal to ensure aesthetic and functional coherence across the area. The council has allocated 85,000 euros in prizes for participating engineering or architecture firms.
