Vigo calls on Galician health ministry to open new PACs and dismiss health minister

The Vigo municipal council approved a motion with 21 votes from the PSOE and BNG and five against the PP, demanding that the Xunta de Galicia's health department create and open additional Puntos de Atención Continuada (PAC) throughout the city. The council said the single existing PAC is overloaded, leading to long waits and pressure on emergency services.

Councillor Elena Espinosa warned that public health in Vigo has reached a state of "collapse and unsustainable chaos" because of insufficient investment, staffing and planning by the regional government. She noted that primary‑care appointments often exceed two weeks, forcing many residents to seek extrahospital emergency care. The motion also calls for the immediate cessation of the current Consellería de Sanidade (health minister) for mishandling the city's health crisis.
