Vigo City Council ordered to compensate four employees over labor risks

The Vigo City Council has been ordered by the Vigo Court of First Instance to pay nearly 20,000 euros in compensation to four civil servants. The ruling follows a violation of fundamental rights due to failures in occupational risk prevention.

A 2019 psychosocial risk assessment for the Local Development and Employment Service identified high risks and recommended measures such as clarifying worker functions, balancing workloads, and establishing conflict resolution procedures. Despite warnings from the Labor Inspectorate regarding poor planning and deficient communication from superiors, the Council failed to fully implement the required changes or conduct a new assessment as requested.

The court concluded that the Council did not comply with the Inspectorate's indications, leading to the infringement of the workers' rights.
