Vigo council backs €1.3 million school access project and €1.9 million auditorium expansion

The Vigo City Council, led by Mayor Abel Caballero, approved two major urban‑development initiatives.

A €1.3 million scheme will create a new access road to the CEIP Párroco Don Camilo primary school. The plan involves expropriating more than 6,000 m² of land at a cost of over €400,000, building a 16‑metre‑wide lane from the Vigo‑Baiona road, adding a pedestrian route compliant with accessibility standards, and establishing a new green zone around the school to improve safety and traffic flow.

Separately, the Auditorio Mar de Vigo will receive a €1.871 million renovation to add a multi‑purpose space for conferences, meetings and exhibitions. The new area, covering about 3,400 m², will accommodate up to 1,000 people and include restrooms, fire‑safety systems, electrical, lighting, climate‑control, ventilation and plumbing works. The refurbishment is slated for four months, aiming to revitalize a long‑underused part of the building and boost tourism‑related events in the city.
