Vigo healthcare units resolve 90% of emergencies without hospital transfers

In the Vigo health area, the nine Continuous Care Points (PAC) successfully resolved 90% of the 285,629 emergency cases they handled in 2025 without requiring hospital transfers. According to data from Sergas, only approximately 10% of patients required referral to hospital-based emergency services.

A professional conference was held at the Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital to highlight the role of these primary care units in reducing pressure on hospital emergency departments. The event, organized by the Vigo Health Area's Nursing Directorate, focused on clinical topics including arrhythmias, pediatric emergencies, advanced life support, and legal procedures regarding healthcare-related aggression.
