Vigo housing prices approach 100% increase since 2016

Real estate prices in Vigo have seen a significant increase, approaching a 100% rise between 2016 and 2026. According to statistics from local notaries, the average residential sale price has risen from 126,975 euros a decade ago to 223,438 euros currently.

This upward trend has pushed property ownership further out of reach for the average salary. The price per square meter has climbed to 2,403 euros, surpassing levels seen during the previous housing bubble.

Despite the rising costs, the volume of transactions is declining. While 2,893 sales were recorded in 2007, the number of operations is projected to fall below 1,800 by the end of the current period, marking the lowest level since the Notaries College began keeping statistics. Additionally, the median age of homebuyers has seen a notable shift, reaching a series low of 49 years.
