Vigo increases police surveillance amid rise in thefts

Authorities in Vigo are increasing security measures following a rise in criminal activity targeting the city's center and tourists. Local police have reinforced patrols in high-traffic areas like Calle Príncipe to combat pickpocketing, particularly during peak cruise ship arrivals when large crowds of international visitors gather.

Recent police interventions have resulted in multiple arrests. In the O Castro area, an individual was caught in the act of breaking into at least five parked vehicles to steal electronics and clothing. Additionally, a separate arrest was made in the Jenaro de la Fuente area following a suspicious vehicle stop, which led to the seizure of narcotics and cash.
