Vigo Mayor demands compensation for Ofimático Project expropriations
Vigo Mayor Abel Caballero has called on the Xunta de Galicia to ensure adequate compensation and relocation for those affected by the Ofimático Project of Autonomous Interest. Following a meeting with a platform representing the affected parties, Caballero noted that the project impacts approximately 35 residential buildings, 250 properties, and roughly 300 people.
Caballero urged the regional government to use all legal avenues to reach agreements with the families facing expropriation. He specifically requested that residents losing their homes be relocated within their current neighborhoods to maintain their social environment. Additionally, he suggested the Xunta explore property exchange agreements and ensure that indemnities are tailored to the specific circumstances of each case, particularly for families residing in the buildings slated for expropriation.
The Mayor criticized the Xunta for a perceived lack of dialogue with the affected citizens and demanded continuous meetings to find solutions and reach mutual agreements.
