Vigo-Peinador Airport seeks new airlines with €300,000 per route incentive

Authorities from the Pontevedra Provincial Council, the Xunta de Galicia, and the Vigo City Council are working to expand flight connections at Vigo-Peinador Airport. During the Routes World aviation forum in Frankfurt, officials presented the ‘Pact for Peinador,’ an initiative designed to attract new direct domestic and international routes starting in 2027.

The incentive package includes €200,000 from the Provincial Council and €100,000 from the Xunta de Galicia for each new route established during its first year. These funds are supplemented by airport fee discounts committed by Aena. The Provincial Council has allocated an initial €400,000 for this program, with the possibility of increasing the budget if more agreements are reached.

Discussions with six airlines have focused on potentially profitable destinations, including London, Paris, Milan, and Frankfurt, as well as Seville and Alicante. Officials noted that airlines showed interest based on market analyses and the growing tourism demand in the Rías Baixas region.
