Vigo opposition calls for airport connectivity funding

Luisa Sánchez, president of the Partido Popular in Vigo, has called on Mayor Abel Caballero to allocate specific funds within the municipal budget to support air connectivity at Peinador Airport.

Sánchez is urging the Mayor to join a working group established by AENA aimed at attracting new flight routes to Peinador and other Galician airports. She criticized the Mayor's current stance regarding the ‘Pacto por Peinador,’ an initiative led by the Pontevedra Provincial Council that has received support from both AENA and the Xunta de Galicia.

The Partido Popular has submitted an amendment to the municipal plenary session requesting that the Mayor participate in an upcoming meeting on September 30 and provide concrete details regarding which routes the city intends to finance. Sánchez noted that while the Provincial Council has allocated 400,000 euros to support two new air routes, the municipal government has yet to specify its financial commitment to the airport's development.
