Vigo PP proposes measures to increase cultural investment

The local leadership of the Partido Popular (PP) in Vigo has proposed measures to increase cultural investment in the city, aiming to improve its standing within Galicia. Luisa Sánchez, president of the PP in Vigo, emphasized the importance of recovering the Teatro Cine Fraga, an iconic 20th-century building acquired by the Diputación de Pontevedra and the Xunta de Galicia, to serve as a regional cultural landmark.

Sánchez criticized current local administration for Vigo’s low ranking in cultural spending per capita, noting that according to the Consello da Cultura Galega, the city currently trails most of Galicia, being surpassed only by Ourense. The PP aims to move Vigo from its current 26th position in cultural quality and innovation rankings toward the top of the list. Other local cultural initiatives mentioned include the Son e Mar festival and the Hematofesti literary event.
