Vigo prepares for O Marisquiño festival with urban downhill MTB race
The 26th edition of the O Marisquiño festival will take place in Vigo from Thursday to Sunday, featuring an urban downhill mountain‑bike (MTB) race that will run from the historic O Castro area to A Laxe. The course spans roughly one kilometre with a total descent of about 135 m and an average gradient of 13.5 %. Mayor Abel Caballero, state delegate David Regades and event director Carlos Domínguez inspected the setup, with Caballero describing the track as “a kilometre of hell”.
Organisers expect more than 150,000 spectators and have registered about 1,500 athletes from over thirty countries. The festival also includes skate, BMX, freestyle motocross, 3x3 basketball, breaking and adapted‑sport competitions, as well as around 60 musical acts, food trucks and the Iberian final of the DMC DJ championship, where twenty Spanish and Portuguese DJs will vie for a spot in the world final in London.
