Vigo retaining wall remains in partial collapse

A retaining wall in the Coia neighborhood of Vigo remains in a state of partial collapse nearly a year after a partial collapse caused by storms in December 2025. The structure, located on a 276 m² plot between Núñez de Balboa and Suído streets, continues to threaten access to several homes.

Local residents have reported the danger through various channels, including the municipal app and formal written complaints to the City Council, but have reportedly received no express response. A dispute has emerged regarding land ownership: while the Vigo City Council claims the plot is not in its municipal inventory, the Galician Housing and Land Institute (IGVS) has stated in writing that responsibility for the maintenance and conservation of the space belongs to the Council through tacit reception.

Affected residents are calling for an urgent technical inspection and the implementation of safety measures before winter rains increase the risk of further landslides.
