Vigo, Spain features diverse Greek and Roman mythological sculptures

The popularity of classical themes, spurred by recent cinematic interest in works like the Odyssey, has highlighted the presence of Greek and Roman mythological representations in Vigo, Spain.

Vigo features several notable sculptures and architectural elements inspired by myth. These include statues of the god Hermes located on the Príncipe facade and the former Banco Pastor building. The city also hosts a replica of the Winged Victory of Samotracia, sculpted by Jesús Picón, atop the Albo Building.

Other local landmarks include the Sireno monument, a four-ton sculpture installed in 1991, and the Rapto de Europa group in the Samil roundabout, which commemorates the myth of Europa and the European Union.
