Vigo to renovate Auditorio Mar de Vigo ground floor
The Vigo City Council has approved the renovation of the ground floor of the Auditorio Mar de Vigo, a space that has remained largely unused since the complex opened in 2011. The project aims to transform the area into a large multifunctional space designed to host exhibitions, congresses, and citizen activities.
The renovation will cost over 1.8 million euros, with the contract awarded to the local company Oreco Balgón SA. The works are expected to take approximately four months to complete. The project will divide the area into two main sectors: a large section for public use with a capacity for approximately 1,000 people, and a smaller section dedicated to logistics and storage.
Mayor Abel Caballero noted that the city has seen high demand for such spaces to host major events. The first major project slated for the new facility is ‘Jules Verne 200’, an immersive exhibition centered on the life and work of the author.
