Vigo upgrades Vía Verde promenade and highlights city’s top attractions

The municipal government of Vigo is moving forward with a new chiringuito (beach kiosk) on the Vía Verde, a four‑kilometre greenway that follows former railway tracks from Vía Norte near Vialia Vigo to Chapela in Redondela. The kiosk will provide restroom facilities and a café terrace, operating under the same model as existing beach kiosks in Samil and other coastal spots. The promenade already features artistic installations that mimic sea‑wave sounds, a panoramic mural and views of the Ría de Vigo, and it is popular for walking, cycling and skating.

A separate guide outlines a one‑day tourist route in Vigo, recommending the ascent of Monte O Castro for citywide views, a walk through the historic Porta do Sol plaza, visits to the commercial Prince Street, the Concatedral de Santa María, the Mercado de la Piedra and a finish at the Alameda and Plaza de Compostela. The itinerary pairs cultural landmarks with the city’s natural scenery, promoting Vigo as a compact destination for visitors.
