Vigo’s BNG seeks access to city event permits, cites administrative harassment

The Bloque Nacionalista Galego (BNG) faction in Vigo announced it will formally request access to all public‑event authorization files processed by the Concello since 1 January. The aim is to verify whether the municipal government is applying consistent criteria, requirements and time‑frames when granting permits.

BNG spokesperson Xabier P. Igrexas says the move responds to repeated complaints from cultural and musical associations about long delays and the imposition of new requirements only hours before events. He cited recent examples such as the cancellation of beach‑kiosk concerts this summer and difficulties surrounding the Xornada Cultural Mar de Galicia. The party characterises the pattern as “administrative harassment” and calls for “seriousness, rigor and efficiency” in the handling of permits, warning of “clear symptoms of administrative and institutional violence” against non‑municipally sponsored events.

BNG also demands clarification on whether an updated protocol exists governing the approval process and seeks to ensure uniform application of any such rules across all cases.
