Vigo's O Castro fortress hosts historical reenactment of 1719 siege

The O Castro fortress in Vigo hosted a theatrical reenactment titled ‘Vigo 1719: Unha loita esquecida’ to commemorate a historical siege. The event recreated the period during the War of the Quadruple Alliance when British troops landed in Samil and besieged the city for ten days.

Organized by the Vigo City Council in collaboration with the Municipal Theater School, the production featured 15 actors directed by Jimmy Núñez. The performance aimed to rescue from oblivion the struggle of the local forces and civilians who resisted the English invasion. The event drew significant crowds, with many spectators watching from the fortress walls due to the high attendance.
