Vigo’s Paseo de Alfonso and A Coruña’s Repsol‑awarded terrace boost Galician tourism

The Paseo de Alfonso XII in Vigo has been transformed into a fashionable hospitality district following its pedestrianisation. Business owners report a surge in foot traffic and a lively “tardeo” scene, with terraces and restaurants such as Hiroki Sushi Bar, Fermentum pastry shop, A Póla bar and El Castro Bar drawing locals and tourists. One owner says, “Llevamos aquí 11 años y la zona cambió muchísimo, ahora ya se viene a propósito a disfrutar del ambiente, las vistas.” Operators also stress respect for residents, avoiding late‑night noise.

In A Coruña, the terrace at La Tita Rivera O Portiño was honoured with a Repsol Guide “Solete” award for its “buenas vistas al mar,” brunch offering and pet‑friendly policy. The guide highlights its location along the waterfront promenade, local Galician dishes such as sidra, sardinas and empanada, and occasional live music, making it a recommended spot for leisurely afternoons.

Both venues illustrate a growing trend of outdoor dining and tourism‑focused development in Galicia’s coastal cities.
