Vijay Sethupathi Makes Cameo Exception for Rajinikanth in Jailer 2

Actor Vijay Sethupathi, who has previously announced that he will no longer appear in cameo roles because such appearances can detract from the promotion of his own lead‑film projects, made a single exception for superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming sequel Jailer 2. He said the cameo was done “just so I could see Rajini sir” and that it would draw attention to Rajinikanth rather than himself.

Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, is scheduled for release on 15 October 2026. The film reunites Sethupathi with Rajinikanth after their collaboration in Petta (2019) and features a large ensemble cast. Sethupathi’s recent work includes the silent feature Gandhi Talks, and he has several upcoming projects such as Mysskin’s Train and Mani Ratnam’s next film.
