Vijay Shah prosecution sanction expected soon, MP government tells Supreme Court
The Madhya Pradesh government has informed the Supreme Court that a decision regarding the sanction for prosecution against State Minister Vijay Shah is expected imminently. The matter involves controversial remarks made by Shah, who referred to Indian Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi as the ‘sister of terrorists.’
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has completed its investigation and forwarded the sanction proposal to the Governor. According to Additional Solicitor General KM Nataraj, a decision is expected shortly. If the sanction is granted, a chargesheet will be filed; if denied, the agency will file a closure report.
Minister Shah has challenged a High Court order directing the registration of an FIR, noting that he apologized for his remarks the day after they were made. Meanwhile, a delegation of Congress MLAs, led by Umang Singhar, plans to meet the Governor regarding the prosecution permission.
