Vijayasai Reddy announces new political party in Andhra Pradesh

Former YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy has announced the formation of a new political party in Andhra Pradesh. Seeking to provide a “viable alternative” to the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the YSRCP, and the Jana Sena Party (JSP), Reddy stated that the party's name and organizational structure will be revealed after Vijaya Dasami.

Reddy, a former close strategist and national general secretary for the YSRCP, indicated that neither he nor his family members will seek the Chief Ministerial candidacy in the 2029 Assembly elections. He noted this is a conscious effort to move away from the dominance of Reddy and Kamma Chief Ministers in the state, aiming instead for social equality. He intends to serve as a mentor for the new outfit.

Following his departure from the YSRCP, Reddy has expressed views aligned with the Hindutva camp. He also issued a warning to the YSRCP, stating he would reveal “shocking facts” if provoked by the party.
