Vijayasai Reddy demands higher TTD pilgrim insurance

Former YSR Congress Party Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy has criticized the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) regarding its new life insurance scheme for pilgrims. Reddy described the Rs 2 lakh payout for devotees who pass away due to natural causes in Tirumala as ‘grossly insufficient’ and argued that it fails to provide meaningful financial relief to surviving families.

Reddy has urged the TTD administration to increase the insurance coverage for natural deaths to at least Rs 10 lakh, noting the high volume of devotees visiting Tirumala annually. While the TTD recently introduced the Rs 2 lakh cover for natural deaths, it has already enhanced accidental death insurance from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
