Vijay's Jana Nayagan hits ₹260 cr worldwide, producer blames A‑certificate

Tamil star Vijay's political drama *Jana Nayagan* has accumulated a worldwide gross of roughly ₹260 crore, driven by a strong overseas performance of about ₹81 crore. Domestically, the film’s net collection stands at ₹153.5 crore with a gross of ₹179.3 crore.

On its eighth day the film experienced a sharp decline, earning ₹3.98 crore and marking a 34.8% drop from the previous day. Occupancy fell to around 22% across shows. Producer K.V.N. Venkat Narayanan attributed the slowdown to the film’s ‘A’ certification, saying a ‘UA’ rating would have attracted a larger, especially younger, audience.

The Tamil version remains the primary revenue driver, while the Hindi and Telugu versions contributed modestly. Competition from releases such as Christopher Nolan’s *The Odyssey* and Marvel’s *Spider‑Man: Brand New Day* is also affecting box‑office performance.
