Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan Set for July 24 Release, Uncut UK Version Generates Rs 1 Crore Pre‑Sales

Jana Nayagan, the final film of actor‑turned‑Chief Minister Thalapathy Vijay, is scheduled to open on 24 July 2026. After a seven‑month delay due to certification issues, the Indian version received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification following a dozen edits, including removal of references to Vijay’s political party and certain religious terms.

The film will be released in the United Kingdom in an uncut form, classified 15‑plus by the British Board of Film Classification and distributed by Ahimsa Entertainment. Advance ticket sales in the UK have already exceeded Rs 1 crore, with thousands of seats sold within the first hour of booking.

Directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan stars Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani. The marketing has highlighted a change to Vijay’s on‑screen title card, replacing the iconic “Thalapathy Vijay” with “The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C Joseph Vijay” to reflect his recent political role.

While the exact Indian release date has not been officially confirmed, ticketing platforms list 24 July, and the film is being promoted as Vijay’s cinematic farewell amid his tenure as Tamil Nadu’s chief minister.
