Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam secures official party status in Tamil Nadu

Vijay, leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has been recognized as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu following the party's performance in the legislative assembly elections. The TVK secured 108 seats and obtained approximately 35% of the vote share, leading the Election Commission of India to officially recognize the party in Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry. Using the whistle symbol, the party has established itself as a major political force within 27 months of entering the political arena.

In response to farmer dissatisfaction regarding unfulfilled campaign promises—specifically concerning paddy procurement corruption, debt waivers, and price increases for crops—Chief Minister Vijay has issued two significant announcements to alleviate tension. The government has cancelled the plan to construct an airport in Parandur and has moved to dismiss legal cases filed against farmers. These decisions are viewed as efforts to protect agricultural livelihoods and address long-standing grievances in the region.
