Viking Electric recruits 70 women for Habitat for Humanity build in Chicago

On October 16, seventy women from across the electrical industry gathered in Chicago's West Pullman neighborhood to participate in Habitat for Humanity's Women Build initiative. Organized by Viking Electric and its Sunrise Electric locations, the event involved contractors, manufacturers, and distribution managers performing tasks such as flooring, drywalling, and painting for four townhomes.

The completed homes are designated for four first-time women homeowners. In addition to the construction efforts, the Viking Electric team raised over $29,000 to assist with downpayments, helping the recipients secure sustainable mortgages. Viking Electric and Sunrise Electric are part of Sonepar, a company that has supported similar Women Build events in Florida, South Carolina, and Maryland.
