Viking adds two new river ships to European fleet

Viking Cruise Line has taken delivery of two new river vessels from Neptun Werft in Rostock‑Warnemünde, Germany. The 135‑metre Viking Annar can accommodate 190 passengers in 95 cabins and will operate itineraries on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, with its inaugural sailing scheduled for 22 June from Amsterdam. The 125‑metre Viking Fjolvar, the final ship of Viking’s Seine series, carries 168 guests in 84 cabins and will depart on round‑trip cruises from Paris starting 4 July. Both ships feature Viking’s Longship design, hybrid diesel‑electric propulsion, solar panels and advanced wastewater treatment. Viking President and CEO Leah Talactac said the additions expand the brand’s capacity to offer “unmatched” river experiences. Viking plans to receive 22 more river ships by 2028, bringing its fleet to 114 vessels.
