Viking launches 2030 river cruises to Germany's Oberammergau Passion Play

Viking announced two new 2030 river cruise itineraries that give guests preferred seating at the 43rd Oberammergau Passion Play, a world‑renowned production performed every ten years for nearly four centuries. The "Oberammergau, Innsbruck & the Rhine" itinerary runs 13 days from Amsterdam to Munich, sailing the Middle Rhine and visiting Innsbruck before the play in Oberammergau and concluding in Munich. The "Oberammergau with Salzburg" itinerary runs 12 days from Oberammergau to Budapest, traveling the Danube through Germany, Austria and Hungary with stops in Salzburg and Budapest. Leah Talactac, Viking’s President and CEO, said the voyages pair “meaningful cultural experiences” with historic European destinations. Viking, the leading North American partner of the Passion Play organizers since 2010, also launched an online resource about the play and is offering a Summer Sale with reduced fares for bookings made through July 31, 2026.
