Chandler Smith wins NASCAR Truck Series race at Martinsville
Chandler Smith secured his tenth career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory by winning the Black’s Tire 200 at Martinsville Speedway. Driving for Front Row Motorsports, Smith took the lead on a final restart with 12 laps remaining, overtaking teammate Layne Riggs to win by 0.574 seconds over Ben Rhodes.
Despite the win, Smith has been mathematically eliminated from championship contention. The race was highly eventful, featuring nine caution periods and two red flags due to multiple collisions. Layne Riggs dominated much of the event, leading a race-high 156 laps and sweeping both stages, but his third-place finish impacts his title pursuit.
Heading into the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Kaden Honeycutt maintains a 20-point lead over Riggs in the championship standings. Honeycutt finished 14th at Martinsville after contact with Tristan McKee, the 16-year-old who became the youngest pole sitter in the series' history during qualifying.
