Viking treasures discovered in Norway, Denmark, and Finland

Significant Viking-era treasures have been discovered across Northern Europe, including Denmark, Finland, and Norway.

In Norway, specifically near the town of Rena in the Innlandet region, archaeologists located over 3,000 silver coins dating from 980 to 1050 AD. The find, discovered near the Glomma River, includes coins minted in England, Germany, Denmark, and Norway. Some coins were issued under the reigns of Emperor Otto III, King Ethelred II of England, and King Cnut the Great. Additionally, several coins from the reign of Harald III Hardrada, the founder of Oslo, were among the collection.

Archaeologists believe the coins were originally kept in an organic container that has since decomposed, leaving the items scattered across a field, likely due to years of agricultural plowing.
