Viking vessel Orkan docks in Setúbal during Portuguese coastal voyage
The Viking-inspired vessel ‘Orkan’ made a scheduled stop in Setúbal as part of its journey along the Portuguese coast. The 28-meter drakkar, built by the French collective Bátar with the help of over 500 volunteers, is sailing under the French flag.
The crew, consisting of 22 members led by two women, was welcomed by local port authorities, nautical associations, and fishing community representatives. Following a stop in Sines, the vessel docked at Cais 2 in the Port of Setúbal. Local officials hosted a welcome event, and the crew stayed overnight at the local Volunteer Firefighters' facilities.
The ‘Orkan’ departed Setúbal for Lisbon and is expected to continue its voyage through Peniche before concluding the trip in Leixões on August 26.
