Vikran Engineering wins ₹120.69 crore POWERGRID contract for 400 kV GIS substation expansion

Vikran Engineering Limited has been awarded a contract worth approximately ₹120.69 crore by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) to supply, erect and commission 400 kV gas‑insulated switchgear (GIS) equipment. The order, secured through a domestic competitive bidding process, covers the design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supply, erection and commissioning of GIS bays at three substations: Magarwada in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Vadnagar in Gujarat and Rajgarh in Madhya Pradesh.

The project aims to augment transformation capacity at these critical transmission nodes, improving grid reliability, strengthening inter‑regional power transmission and increasing power evacuation capabilities across the regions. Chairman and Managing Director Rakesh Markhedkar said, “Winning this order from POWERGRID is a testament to the confidence our clients continue to place in Vikran Engineering’s engineering capabilities and execution track record.” The contract reinforces Vikran Engineering’s position in India’s high‑voltage transmission infrastructure sector and expands its order book.
