Viktor Hovland Eyes Scottish Open After Travelers Victory

Norwegian golfer Viktor Hovland, 28, heads to the Genesis Scottish Open after defeating world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in a playoff to claim his eighth PGA Tour win at the Travelers Championship on June 29. The victory marked his first of the season following missed cuts at the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open. Hovland said the win lowered his shoulders and gave him confidence ahead of two weeks of links golf, including the upcoming Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. He recalled finishing tied for 11th at the Scottish Open last year, a big improvement from a 46th place finish in 2024. While in Scotland, Hovland also followed Norway’s national soccer team, which beat Brazil 2‑1 to reach the World Cup quarter‑finals, and he hailed the football success as “a cherry on top” for Norwegian sport.
