Viktor Kožený reportedly hospitalized in Bahamas following stroke

Viktor Kožený, the Czech financier known as the ‘Pirate of Prague’ for his role in the Harvard Funds privatization era, is reportedly in long-term care in the Bahamas following a serious health crisis.

Sources indicate that Kožený, who has lived in the Lyford Cay community near Nassau since fleeing the Czech Republic in 1994, has suffered brain damage, likely due to a stroke. Reports suggest he is currently in a long-term care facility with access to professional medical assistance and a personal caregiver.

Senator Václav Láska, a former investigator of the Harvard Funds case, noted that while the information regarding the hospitalization is unverified by official Czech authorities, the reports suggest Kožený is in a care facility rather than a facility for the socially disadvantaged. Due to the absence of a Czech honorary consulate in the Bahamas, official verification of his condition remains difficult.
