Viktor Orbán calls for resistance against Hungarian ‘recolonization’

Viktor Orbán, leader of the Fidesz party, has called for resistance against what he describes as the ‘recolonization’ of Hungary. In an interview with Hír TV, Orbán criticized the current Tisa government, accusing it of failing to maintain an independent foreign policy and instead following instructions from Brussels. He claimed the current administration has abandoned Hungary’s political security ties with the US, its neutrality regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, and its strategic agreements with China and Turkey.

Orbán stated that his mission is to fight against colonization and ensure Hungary remains a Hungarian state, emphasizing a platform against migration, war, and ‘gender ideology’. He also addressed the country’s economic difficulties, attributing them to poor policy rather than a lack of resources, specifically citing the energy crisis and stagnation in the construction and agricultural sectors.

Reflecting on recent electoral outcomes, Orbán noted that while many voters currently believe the country is on the right track, he expects this sentiment to shift as they realize the Tisa party has misled them. He emphasized that the right wing must remain united to regain political relevance, warning that fragmentation would eliminate any chance of future victory.
