Viktor Orbán criticizes Hungarian government economic policies
Former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has criticized the current Tisza Party-led government, characterizing its economic approach as “new communist” due to recent tax increases. In a series of interviews, Orbán argued that the government's policies, including changes to the small business tax system (KATA) and the introduction of a wealth tax, are detrimental to economic growth and investment.
Orbán claimed that the tax burden for approximately 138,000 small business owners has effectively doubled, impacting nearly half a million people including their families. He suggested that instead of increasing taxes on successful businesses and employers, the government should focus on tax cuts to stimulate the economy and job creation.
Beyond economics, Orbán addressed the political climate, alleging that certain legal proceedings against politicians are politically motivated attempts to dismantle the right-wing opposition. He also commented on the state of various sectors, noting difficulties in agriculture, construction, and tourism, while asserting that the current administration's actions favor foreign interests over Hungarian sovereignty.
