Viktor Orbán's Davos accommodation costs revealed

Data obtained through a legal request by former MP Ákos Hadházy reveals that Viktor Orbán’s accommodation costs during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, were significantly higher than those of other world leaders.

Orbán stayed in a luxury hotel for three nights, incurring a total gross cost of 48,530 Swiss francs (approximately 20 million Hungarian forints). The nightly room rate was roughly 1.5 million forints. Additional expenses included nearly 1.8 million forints at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, 89,000 forints for room service and snacks, and 125,000 forints for laundry services.

In comparison, other leaders reported much lower costs. The President of Argentina spent approximately 620,000 forints per night, while Denmark initially booked rooms at 132,800 forints before canceling the trip due to cost concerns. Some leaders managed accommodations for as little as 60,000 forints per night.

Bertalan Havasi, Fidesz communications director, defended the expenditure, stating that such prices are standard in Switzerland during the Davos forum period. Hadházy criticized the necessity of the luxury suite, suggesting a standard room would have sufficed.
