Viktoria Angelova receives IOC Olympic Solidarity scholarship

Bulgarian triple jumper Viktoria Angelova has been awarded an International Olympic Committee (IOC) Olympic Solidarity scholarship for the Los Angeles 2028 Games. The 17-year-old athlete's candidacy was submitted by the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) and approved following consultations with World Athletics.

Angelova recently completed a highly successful season, securing both European and world titles in the girls' triple jump. In July, she won gold in Rieti, Italy, with a jump of 13.98 meters, setting a new European record for her age group and the best world result for the year. Shortly after, she secured a gold medal at the world championships in Eugene, Oregon, with a jump of 13.91 meters.

Angelova is one of 12 Bulgarian athletes across nine sports selected for the program, which provides targeted financial and logistical support through the BOC. Other recipients include Petar Mitsin (swimming), Plamena Mitkova (athletics), Yoana Ilieva (fencing), Yanitsa Dineva (rhythmic gymnastics), Valentina Georgieva (artistic gymnastics), Rami Kiwan (boxing), Desislava Angelova (rowing), Ivan Dimov and Hristo Hristov (weightlifting), and Stoyan Kubatov and Ivaylo Tisov (wrestling).
