Viktória Petrányi appointed to lead Hungarian film industry reforms

Viktória Petrányi, an internationally recognized film producer, has been appointed as the ministerial commissioner responsible for reforming the Hungarian film industry. The appointment was announced by Zoltán Tarr, the Minister for Social Relations and Culture.

Petrányi’s mandate includes coordinating measures to renew the Hungarian film support system, overseeing the review of decision-making processes, and facilitating professional and social consultations regarding industry reforms. Minister Tarr noted that the industry had been neglected under previous leadership and emphasized that the sector holds both cultural and economic importance for the nation.

Ervin Nagy, the State Secretary for Culture, supported the appointment, stating that the goal is to implement reforms in partnership with filmmakers rather than without them. The initiative aims to create a system centered on talent, performance, and high-quality productions through cooperation with the Film Reform Round Table.
