Vila do Conde National Craft Fair showcases Rendas de Bilros lace and Fafe’s certified straw braiding

The Feira Nacional de Artesanato in Vila do Conde runs from 25 July to 9 August, gathering artisans, researchers and the public to celebrate Portugal’s intangible cultural heritage.

During the fair, the traditional Rendas de Bilros lace of Vila do Conde is highlighted with workshops on 31 July, 9 August and a dedicated "Day of the Lace‑maker" on 2 August, providing hands‑on learning and public recognition of the craft’s generations‑long lineage.

The municipality of Fafe also participates, presenting certified artisans D. Fátima and D. Dalila who demonstrate the region’s Entrançados de Palha (straw braiding) at both the Vila do Conde fair and the Guimarães craft fair. Their work carries a Protected Geographical Indication, underscoring the effort to preserve and promote this traditional craft across Portugal.
