Vila Franca de Xira delivers rehabilitated housing and new community facilities

The municipality of Vila Franca de Xira has delivered three rehabilitated municipal homes to families in need. Part of the ‘1.º Direito’ program and funded through the Recovery and Resilience Plan, the project involved an investment exceeding 300,000 euros to restore abandoned or ruined properties in urban centers.

Mayor Fernando Paulo Ferreira stated that the initiative aims to encourage residents to return to urban cores by setting an example in property rehabilitation. One recipient, Maria Pina, noted she had waited over 20 years for her first home.

Additionally, the Alves Redol Association has inaugurated new facilities in the historic center of Vila Franca de Xira. The association moved to a larger, renovated space on Rua Comendador Miguel Esguelha to expand its cultural and social activities, including theater, debates, and integration support for immigrants.
